1. Don't over-plan or stuff your sandboxes full of toys. Leave room in your sandbox for creativity. Your child can create entire worlds with a pail and shovel.
2.
Research shows free, imaginative play to be one of the best activities
a child can engage in. Sandboxes lend themselves to this type of play.
3. Playing in sand is natural and healthy. Playing in kitty waste is not. Choose one of our covers to protect your sandbox.
4.
When choosing how big your sandbox should be, don't forget to include
the neighbor kids. Outgoing children with a lot of friends will enjoy a
bigger sandbox.
5. Although beaches make for great play,
"beach sand" isn't the best for sandboxes. Choose sanitized "play sand"
or "sandbox sand."
6. Don't use plastic to line your sandboxes. Landscape fabric lets rain water out.
7. It takes about two 50-lb. bags of sand to fill a cubic foot of sandbox. Best to buy more than you might need.
8. Cats hate the smell of citronella. Putting citronella candles around your sandbox will keep away more than mosquitoes.
9. When choosing a sandbox location, pick a spot where you can easily keep an eye on the action.
