Classic Playtime Sandy Bay Covered Sandbox

We just bought this sandbox for our 2 1/2 year old son and he is enjoying it so much. He's ready to go back outside to play as soon as he wakes up in the morning!

Some of the great aspects of the sandbox are: easy to assemble, looks great, durable cover, and provides shade while playing.

One drawback that we have already discovered is that the shade cover does not attach to the frame (it just sits on top of it) and it blew off with the first gust of wind. We'll have to figure out some way to attach it so it doesn't blow away in the future.

Lastly, we needed much more sand than they recommended. We ended up with 700 pounds so that it was deep enough that our son wouldn't dig to the bottom (although you could probably get away with a bit less).

All in all, we are so happy with our purchase. We had been researching sandboxes for a long time and we are so glad that we made this choice. It's exactly what we were looking for!

Bought this for my nephew. It is big enough for 2 or 3 kids to play together. The canopy is nice for keeping him out of the hot Texas sun! Easy to put together, we had it up and filled in a little over 45 minutes. 500 lbs of sand filled it perfectly!

Our kids have really enjoyed the sandbox, and we liked the price for what you get. The sandbox comes with a canopy and cover which have already been useful for where we have the sandbox located in our backyard. We recommend buying this sandbox.

We received this as a birthday gift from our Grandparents. Of the 4 Base pieces 3 of them were split/broke in half. [...] it is being returned [...]

Our 2 year old really enjoys it. Plenty of room to grow. Pretty spacious at 6.6' x 6.6'. Did a lot of research and everything else of a comparable size was much more money. And this comes complete with a canopy and cover which I think are essential.

Think it might be being discontinued. Not sure why. The individual pieces don't seem the sturdiest right out of the box but when put together it all feels fairly strong.

Used fifty percent more sand than the 400lbs that was recommended. Worried our daughter would reach the bottom with a shovel too easily. Also wish I had put a weed barrier or some other kind of permeable material between the sand and the soil. If only to make me more confident that the sand and soil wouldn't intermingle. Hasn't been a problem so far. But had I to do it over again...

Looks nice in our backyard (the wood color, the awning, cover, etc.) and our yard isn't the largest so you really feel its presence, even from inside the house.

In short, happy with the purchase. If I was handier and had much more time in my life, perhaps I could have built something from scratch. But I'm not and we don't, so this was a far better solution for us.

And again, our little girl uses it every day. Great as one more thing that helps us minimize the t.v. time and keeps her creative, imaginative and physically active.
