KidKraft 5 x 5-ft. Backyard Wooden Sandbox

We just got it and love it. It was easy to assemble and is exactly what we expected.

Easy to put together, and big enough for two, three, even four kids to play in. Looks great. The only downside is the mesh top - it is time consuming to attach it properly, and once on there are gaps that an animal could easily fit through. Will have to find something better to cover it. To future purchasers - you will need a LOT of sand - we bought 300lbs. and it definitely needs more!

So far the sandbox has been great. Before I finshied my little girls were sitting on the seats with the sidewalk chaulk drawing on the ground. I love the cover to keep out the dogs, cats and leaves making it a great place for my kids to play when they want. The only drawback is that the cover is mesh so when it rains it takes the sand a while to dry out.

I ordered this to put on my deck. And, there was not a bottom. It was not a sandbox, but a sand "frame". It also smelled horrid. The stain was still damp, and the smell soaked into the blue cover. The wood stunk something awful. Still does. I thought the smell had diffused, but was sitting on the corner seat and my shorts now have that smell.

I think this is a great sandbox and the kids love it. I have four children and they all fit and have room to sit and play. I do not like the cover though. It is a mesh net and may perhaps keep animals out, but will not keep the rain out. I now started to just put a tarp over it instead. It may not look so neat and tidy, but it works. Nothing in my house looks neat and tidy with four kids, so I don't mind. As long as my kids are having fun, that's all that should matter. I was drawn to this sandbox because of its size, the price, and because it came with a cover. Most of the sandboxes I looked at, the covers cost an extra $80-$100. It is no bargain that this sandbox comes with a cover.
